SEATTLE - December 21, 2007 - Giant Campus, the nationally recognized leader in technology education programs for youth and families, today announced the release of its latest Flash Animation course designed specifically for virtual high schools.
Thanks to Giant Campus' new offering, students will learn how to use the newest version of Adobe Flash CS3 to build two unique games, as well as utilize drawing tools to create their own art. Students will also have the ability to animate movies and develop an interactive display for their work.
"This Flash Animation course, designed specifically for virtual high schools, is for a huge step for us at Giant Campus as we advance our leadership role in educating students with 21st century skills," said Pete Findley, chief executive officer of Giant Campus. "It is essential for students to develop these skills today in order to succeed in the careers of tomorrow, and we are proud to develop the tools necessary to help them reach their full potential."
Students will also learn how to use ActionScript, Flash's native scripting language. Once they complete the course, students will have their own art and script that can be placed directly into their original games.
Giant Campus' curriculum is currently developed for five of the largest virtual high schools in the country including Keystone National High School and Kaplan University High School. By utilizing its extensive knowledge of the learning industry, Giant Campus has continued to develop leading methodology for creating, delivering and assessing education for grades 9-12.
Giant Campus sets itself apart from others by offering courses that are strictly project based. At the conclusion of the course, a student is assessed on their completed projects, rather than the more traditional assessment methods. Giant Campus courses are entirely hands-on, further demonstrating its commitment to educate for the 21st century.
To meet the need for additional technology programs at virtual high schools, Giant Campus also plans to release its first-ever 3D game design course designed specifically for virtual students by this summer.
