SEATTLE - September 5, 2007 - Giant Campus, the nationally recognized leader in 21st century skills development and technology education programs for youth and families, today announced that it joined the national board of the Partnership for 21st Century Skills, a leading advocacy organization focused on infusing 21st century skills into education.
"This partnership reflects our passion to provide individuals with the tools they need to contribute and succeed in a global community," said Giant Campus CEO Pete Findley. "We are excited to share our expertise in developing students' 21st century skills with this impressive group of Partnership board members."
Utilizing its extensive knowledge in creating engaging learning experiences and teaching youth, is developing a definitive framework for creating, delivering and assessing 21st century skills education. The company has invaluable experience in increasing students' knowledge of not only specific subjects, but also boosting their critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills.
Giant Campus' curriculum for teaching 21st century skills is needed now more than ever. In fact, nearly eight in ten voters (78 percent) want there to be at least an equal balance between basic skills and 21st century skills, according to a national poll conducted on behalf of the Partnership for 21st Century Skills.
Along with Giant Campus, the Partnership also welcomed six other organizations to its national board, including Davis Publications, KnowledgeWorks Foundation, LEGO Group, Measured Progress, Sesame Workshop and Wireless Generation. The total number of board members is now 35.
Partnership President Ken Kay said he is proud to be adding such prestigious groups to the organization's national board.
"Their decision to join the Partnership is not only evidence of each company's commitment to bringing 21st century skills to the nation's K-12 students, but also of the growing national momentum to ensure that U.S. students are successful citizens and workers in an increasingly globalized society and workforce," he said.
