Student Life
Our project-based courses are both challenging and fun, but only if you devote time every day to studying, asking questions, completing assignments and staying in close contact with your teachers. While learning online may be more convenient than learning at a traditional school, it still requires dedication and focus to be successful.
Getting Started
Enrollment
Students can register to take a Giant Campus course by enrolling online or by calling us. The first step of enrollment is to chose an online course and check its availability. If you would like to enroll by phone, please contact an enrollment advisor Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm Pacific Time.
Orientation Session
At the start of each semester, you'll attend a live orientation session. These sessions are scheduled at convenient times during the first few days of each semester. In the orientation, you will meet your instructors and classmates. Your instructor will give you a tour of our online campus and discuss the academic expectations for the course. You will also receive a copy of the Class Compass - a list of assignments and due dates, so you can plan ahead.
Class Structure
Class Meetings
Each week, your instructor will also host a one-hour, live class meeting. Attendance at class meetings is required, but you can make it up by watching a recorded version if you miss it. During the weekly class meetings, your instructor will focus on a particular skill or concept from the week's lessons. Your instructor will also cover tips and tricks and encourage students to share and learn from each others' experience.
Projects and Assignments
The rest of the time, you’ll work on assignments at your own pace. Even though you can work on projects and assignments at times that are convenient for you, you’ll be required to turn them in by their due dates. To help you stay on track, you’ll receive weekly online announcements from your instructor. And because staying engaged is such an important part of your academic success, we will also contact you and your family by email and phone if you are not logging in to the website regularly enough to be successful.
Interacting Online
Throughout the semester, you’ll be able to chat online with your classmates, post to class forums, and meet one-on-one with your instructor during his or her weekly office hours. And if you ever need to schedule a meeting with your instructor outside regular office hours, that can always be arranged. Our instructors are dedicated to helping you be a successful online learner.
